Gli MTV Europe Music Awards, in sigla EMAs o EMA, sono una manifestazione organizzata dall'emittente televisiva MTV Networks Europe, dove vengono premiati i cantanti e le canzoni più popolari nel Vecchio Continente.

La prima edizione degli MTV Europe Music Awards si è tenuta nel 1994. In origine questo premio era stato pensato in alternativa agli americani MTV Video Music Awards. Oggi la trasmissione è diventata molto popolare in tutto il mondo.

Gli MTV Europe Music Awards si tengono ogni anno in una diversa città europea (l'Italia li ha ospitati nel 1998 a Milano e nel 2004 a Roma). La premiazione viene trasmessa ogni anno dal vivo da MTV, e tra i premi assegnati ve n'è uno per il miglior artista di ogni paese europeo in cui è trasmessa l'emittente televisiva musicale.

Generalmente i premi sono assegnati tramite votazioni sul sito ufficiale, in cui gli utenti possono votare i loro artisti preferiti per la candidatura e successivamente decretare il vincitore di ogni categoria.

Gli ultimi EMA si sono tenuti in Irlanda del Nord il 6 novembre 2011 a Belfast.

La diciassettesima edizione degli MTV Europe Music Awards si è svolta a Madrid l' 11 novembre 2010, presso il complesso sportivo multifunzionale della Caja Mágica (nonostante le prime indiscrezioni sostenessero che a contendersi l'organizzazione dell'evento fossero le città di Torino e Parigi)^[7].
